1999 Bell Prize
The following paper (originally in the SC'99 Proceedings, updated in December 1999) received recognition in the form of a Gordon Bell Prize in the "Special" Category at Supercomputing '99:
- Kyle Anderson, William Gropp, Dinesh Kaushik, David Keyes and Barry Smith, 1999, "Achieving High Sustained Performance in an Unstructured Mesh CFD Application" (ps) (pdf)
Slides of the Bell Prize talk are available at here(in powerpoint) and here(in 2-to-a-page postscript - warning: very large file).
A short layman's overview putting the Bell Prize computation in context for a bulletin board display at ODU is here (in postscript).
News articles on this were posted at
- Old Dominion University
- Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (with several photographs of Gordon Bell, himself),
- ICASE (NASA Langley Research Center) (with the most extensive technical coverage), and
- Argonne National Laboratory.
There is a page maintained by my student Dinesh Kaushik describing other activites with this same code project at Argonne: PETSc-FUN3D homepage.
